I was never really good at anything special, except I had the ability to not give up. —Jon Cena
Sixteen years ago...Reia was a toddler, and Robin and I were celebrating five years married, and we headed off to Hawaii for an anniversary getaway. We spent a few days in Honolulu, then spent the majority of our time on the wonderful island of Kauai. It was an amazing vacation getaway that created outstanding memories.
Tomorrow, Robin and I return to Kauai. But instead of an anniversary trip, this is a double-date vacation trip of sorts. We are traveling with some of our best friends, and we are so excited. I am so thankful for great friends that we look forward to traveling with. I am thankful for having the discipline and intentionality of saving money for vacations so when opportunities like this present themselves we can say 'yes'...debt free. I am thankful for grandparents who help support our teenagers while we are gone. And, I am thankful for Life.Church for encouraging and supporting time away. Time to hang ten for a week, so no dispatch next week.

It’s time for fall fescue overseeding! Apparently, September 15 to October 15 is the sweet spot for overseeding fescue grass. Since it’s been unseasonably warm, you might have an extra week this year!

Have you heard the old saying: It’s about the journey, not the destination. It is just a saying, but I think it could be a really important mindset to apply to many areas of our lives. This Stanford article connects this journey-mindset to a way of redefining success. (read more)
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for my calf recovery. Forty-eight days ago, I severely tore my calf muscle, and your emails of encouragement have been so great! A huge prayer of mine has been answered because I can head off to Hawaii and not be in a boot and crutches! My physical therapy has been going great, and I would say my calf is 80%. I am hopeful to finish the month strong with PT and get back out on the tennis court soon.
