My belief is that there are 5 creative hours in everyone's day. All I ask of people at Shopify is that 4 of those are channeled into the company. - Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke

Today is Good Friday, and my guess is that nothing about today is what you were expecting just a month or so ago. Thinking back to the beginning of the year, when most of us processed resolutions or words/themes for the year, nothing could have prepared us for what this last month has looked like. This week, I’ve shifted my morning reading and journaling towards Holy Week, and it has been really fascinating to see what God is doing in and through this situation right now. Palm Sunday kicked off the writing and processing, and it really centered me on hope and freedom in Christ alone.
In the midst of our situations and circumstances right now, I pray we can see the resurrected Christ all around us. I pray that even in the chaos, fear, and deep anxiety, we recognize that Jesus Christ defeated death. He overcame all the trials and weight of this world and gives us a clear understanding of where our hope and faith comes from.

Here are some of my favorite reads of the last few weeks connected to the COVID-19 crisis. If you want something lighter, feel free to look at Memes on Facebook. If you want something more inspirational and spiritual, you can jump to the links at the bottom and read some of my thoughts on the book of Colossians.
This week, a friend whom I play tennis with regularly, sent me this video about COVID-19. The video is from Dr. David Price, a medical doctor who works in a primer hospital in New York City and is on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis. Dr. Price recorded this video for his friends and family so it has a more personal feeling. He offers some of the most practical advice I’ve heard. It’s a must-watch in my mind. Watch now.
I shared in last week’s dispatch that I was navigating and struggling with grief. This article really helped guide me in a few directions and gave me clarity around some feelings and emotions I wasn’t processing very well. It’s a great read, and hopefully, it will bring you some value. Read now.
Watch, read, and now, listen seems appropriate. This past week, Tracy, my assistant, shared a podcast from Brené Brown on Anxiety, Calm + Over / Under-Functioning. I am a big fan of Brené because she dives right into my personal kryptonite around emotional vulnerability and transparency. She seems to address things I need to hear and simultaneously hate hearing. As a natural-born overfunctioner, this podcast provided new awareness and language around over/under-functioning. If you’ve followed the Dispatch for a while, you’ll recognize the name, Mr. Money Mustache. I typically link to his writings quarterly. (I could probably link to his works weekly, but I try to offer some diversity.) This article titled, “No, You Didn’t Just Lose Half of Your Retirement Savings,” is so well written and offers some outstanding insight. Read now.
In my Strengthsfinder profile, two of my top strengths are Futuristic and Strategic. These serve me well so often, but right now these strengths are actually creating some challenges. In this current climate of uncertainty, where it’s literally impossible to know what next week or next month is going to look like, being a futuristic and strategic thinker is a bit challenging. I’ve had to shift my mindset and adjust some of the ways I process things. This article was really insightful and helpful. Read now.
And finally, I will end with these two articles. These are a bit more narrow in focus, but if you enjoy following the financial markets and gaining some unique perspectives based on the markets, these are must-reads from Insider Monkey.
